Mal's Blog: Family Detective
We have another blogger discussing a member of our tree. Grandfather, Major Ian Kenneth Cockburn Hobkirk (1908 - 1980) is the subject of discussion in Mal's Blog: Family Detective. Although I know of no evidence to support Mal's theory as to how the Hobkirk and Cockburn families might be connected, Mal would like to know why Ian was given the Christian name "Cockburn." Any ideas anyone?

No idea - possibly a godfather.
ReplyDeleteYes, possibly a godfather. Interesting to note that the name Cockburn, like Hobkirk, hails from the borders area of Scotland.
