Family History Radio Interview

I recently appeared on Anna Fenton's radio show, "Passions," at the Foreign Correspondents' Club in Hong Kong. The show aired on RTHK Radio 3 on Saturday, 31 October 2015. During the course of this interview, I spoke about family history research in general, the website ancestry.co.uk, Britain's National Archives at Kew in London, the use of DNA technology to support geological research and related stories about various ancestors. Persons mentioned included my 4th great grandfather, Samuel George Carter of Mary Ann Clark and Frederick, Duke of York fame; my second great grandmother, Margaret Leishman who was married to John Hobkirk, a corn merchant of Edinburgh; her second husband, the Baron Luigi Farina-Farrao of the Neapolitan Kingdom; their son, Raphael Lewis Julian Farina, an MI5 officer during the First World War and subsequent MI6 officer in Latvia when he was connected to the Zinoviev affair during the early 1920s: Dennis Kelly, Chief Justice of Jamaica, Robert Cooper Lee, the Solicitor General and their relationships with African slave women; Robert's daughter, Priscilla who married into the Bevan and Barclay banking family; and the French Huguenot Bosanquet family, who fled the persecution of Protestants in France to arrive in England in the 1680s. And of course, no interview could have been complete without mentioning William the Conquerer, Robert the Bruce and last but not least, the great apes!

The radio show was in two parts, the first with Ian Ford-McNicol who spoke about this passion for Porsche cars and the second part with me.
