Welcome to the Hobkirk & Stone Family Tree Blog

Welcome to the Hobkirk and Stone Family Tree Blog! Here, it is my intention to discuss, explore and reveal the connected histories of the Hobkirk family that is known to have originated from Hobkirk in Roxburghshire in the borders area of Scotland and the Stone family with its earliest known connection to Over Stowey in Somerset, England.

Important families (by my reckoning anyway) that will be discussed in this blog will include the Bevan, Bosanquet, Carter, Crawford, Lee, Leishman and Shore families as well as many more that are connected to the tree. Some related surnames in direct lineage include:

Airey, Albeck, Allercott, Andrew, Annesley,
Barclay, Bevan, Bond, Bosanquet, Bourke, Browne, Burne,
Campbell, Carter, Chance, Cholsey, Cognard, Cornwall, Cornwell, Crawford,
Daly, Day, de Barbut, de Chaunel,

This blog serves as an adjunct to our ever growing Hobkirk & Stone Family Tree hosted at ancestry.co.uk, which for me is a constant work in progress and time-consuming passion!

From time-to-time, the blog will also dip into and discuss genealogical and historical matters in general, with an emphasis on British colonial and military history in particular.

This is my first attempt at writing and hosting a blog. I hope you will enjoy it as much as I intend to enjoy posting articles, images and links to relevant sites of interest here.

To respect the rights to privacy of others, the identifying details of living individuals will not be discussed or disclosed without their expressed connect.

    1. No, the blog is currently in the public domain. That way I can attract hitherto unknown family members who may be able to contribute to our family history. However, I shall endeavour to open a members' only (i.e. family only) discussion forum that will afford privacy and discretion. More later.

    2. As you can see in the posting about a Private Discussion Forum, there is now a facility for private family discussion and information sharing.
